After watching fruit lie on the ground rotting at a small farm they visited, the founders of The Rotten Fruit Box decided they wanted to help reduce food waste by using it instead of discarding it. The fruit was still tasty and edible, so there was no reason to leave it to rot. But the smaller farmers could not keep up with some of the larger productions causing the fruit to sit on the ground and rot, which also negatively impacted the trees from which they grew. At that point, the 100% natural freeze-dried fruits and veggie snacks in a box was born. In order to eliminate the fruit from becoming rotten fruit on the ground, their farmers pick the produce straight off the tree once it’s ready for consumption creating a ripe tasty fruit treat that is freeze-dried and creates a healthy cycle for the tree and farmer.
