Homegrown
Homegrown is a restaurant and community built around sustainably sourced foods. “Food is the liaison between the earth and our community.” They know how important it is to have access to locally made, sustainably sourced ingredients to put in our bodies. This Seattle based company’s idea “…is that if we thoughtfully curate every little thing about the sandwich – where the grains for the bread come from, how the animals behind our meats and cheeses are raised, what chemicals we’re keeping off our fruits and vegetables – each sandwich will be a little bit healthier for the planet and for the people who enjoy eating them.” They know when you put that into the scale of how many sandwiches are served every day you can see a size-able impact on our food system. As Homegrown calls it, their Sandwich Environmentalism turned a simple lunch into a simple solution.
Homegrown’s ingredients are locally made. They use energy efficient and reclaimed/recycled materials in their brick-and-mortar locations. These materials are also FSC Certified and 100% compostable. Their serving and packaging materials are reusable. They support locally, sustainably grown ingredients working with the local farmers. They’re looking to change the face of how we approach food one sandwich at a time.
